We originally had planned a trip to Washington D.C. for August. The girls had save all their birthday money and wanted to blow it all at the American Girl Doll store that had just opened up in D.C. The Madrids were planning to go with us and we had reservations (that were very hard to come by for 10 people) to eat dinner at the restaurant in the A.G. store. Caroline and Jocey were both excited about seeing some of the historic landmarks in the city as well, so we were also planning to go up inside the Washington Monument. Well….a few days before the planned trip an earthquake struck nearby in Virginia and put a crack in the Washington Monument and then a little Hurricane called Irene came up the east coast and cancelled our trip altogether. The girls were disappointed to say the least. We weren’t able to reschedule for a time when the Madrids could come along with us, so we picked a weekend in October and headed out on our own. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. It was late October with blue skies and temps around 70.
Unfortunately, I really didn’t get to take pictures while we were shopping in the A.G. store because my hands were full the whole time! So here they are afterwards, back at the hotel, with their dolls and matching jammies.
